Indigenous American World View

The indigenous cultures that developed in and around North America were distinct from one another but share a worldview, our speaker will address these commonalities.

Sunale Kanegisde Tsiaqua (Morning Song Bird) married into the culture as her husband was of Cherokee descent. She chose to learn and follow traditional ways and was named by Elders in a traditional naming ceremony. Morning Song Bird learned and participated in ceremonies of Lakota, Apache, and Comanche people. She has been a member of several sweat lodges and is a twined fire keeper and pipe carrier. As a Drum Keeper and Lead Singer she is honored to keep two grandfather drums. She is also a locally recognized storyteller and traditional Jingle Dancer.
