The War on Drugs; A Solution Worse than the Problem with Jim Whitworth

Watch this service on YouTube.

About the Service:
Jim first became interested in the “war on drugs” as a college student, when Life Magazine published an opinion piece by a New York State judge who argued for treating drug addiction with compassion. In this service, Jim will share why he believes drug policies have failed to accomplish what many well-meaning people intended. Instead, he says, “they have caused harmless people to suffer greatly. They have been particularly cruel to minorities, and they have enriched and empowered the underworld.”

About the Speaker:
James (Jim) Whitworth was born in Corpus Christi in 1941. He enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard in 1959 after graduating from Martin High School in Laredo. After completing his four-year enlistment, he earned a BBA in Accounting from the University of Texas at Austin.

Following a series of jobs, Jim realized he wasn’t cut out for traditional employment. He started his own practice and has been a self-employed Certified Public Accountant for the past fifty years.
