About the Service:
Jill “Morning Song Bird” Robinson has played bass in several bands for many years, but has since chosen to follow a deeper path with the drum. As a keeper of two Indigenous drums, she serves as both lead singer and drummer in traditional Native ceremonies and gatherings. These sacred drums are also used for ceremony and teaching demonstrations. Jill also plays the bodhrán, the traditional Irish drum, using rhythm as a way to bring people together in community and to foster harmony and peace.
About our Speaker
Sunale Kanegisde Tsiaqua (Morning Song Bird) married into the culture through her husband, who was of Cherokee descent. Morning Song Bird has learned from and participated in ceremonies among the Lakota, Apache, and Comanche peoples. She has been a member of several sweat lodges and serves as a twined fire keeper and pipe carrier. As a Drum Keeper and Lead Singer, she is honored to care for two grandfather drums. She is also a locally recognized storyteller and traditional Jingle Dancer.
