Helping Others
ESL and Citizenship Test Preparation – Since February our church has offered three levels of classes to teach English as a second language as well as a class for preparation to take the citizenship test. These classes are offered every Sunday (except for holiday weekends) from 3:00 to 5:00. The classes have been organized by Marilyn Bremser in conjunction with the Literacy Council’s Director, Mary Gleason. By reaching out to our multi-cultural community, our volunteer teachers are offering an excellent service to our immigrant population. To date, there have been 8 different nationalities who have registered with our program.
Anyone interested in participating in this program, please contact Marilyn at 949-6790 or mbremser@stx.rr.com
The Social Action and Community Outreach (SACO) Committee plans events and serves as liaison between groups reaching into the community and church participants. The mission is to engage in activities that promote truth, justice and social conscience in our community and throughout the world. Habitat for Humanity, Beach Clean-up, Timons Ministry (food for the homeless), and various other options provide exciting opportunities for community outreach!
